HR & Legal Officer
Position Summary:
We're looking for an experienced and highly organized HR & Legal Officer to join our team. This dual-role position is crucial for ensuring that our company's human resources practices are not only efficient and equitable but also fully compliant with all legal and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of both HR management and legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Human Resources Management:
- Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
- Collaborate with Heads of Departments to identify job opennings, formulating job descriptions and esuring best talent is acquired.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that align with the company's goals and national labor laws.
- Performing performance review activities in collaboration with Heads of Departments.
- Administer employee benefits, compensation, and payroll.
- Handle employee relations, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution, with discretion and fairness.
- Tracking attendance, leaves and staff rotation schedules.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and documentation.
- Legal Compliance & Advisory:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all legal matters related to employment and company operations.
- Ensure the company's compliance with all relevant labor laws, regulations, and industry standards in Lesotho.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, service agreements, and other legal documents.
- Provide sound legal advice to management and staff on employment law, risk mitigation, and corporate governance.
- Stay informed on changes in national labor laws and advise on necessary adjustments to company policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A relevant professional certification (e.g., in HR or law) is a plus.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a similar HR or legal-related role, preferably within a corporate or industrial environment.
- Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of HR principles and best practices.
- Proven knowledge of Lesotho labor laws and employment regulations is essential.
- Experience in contract drafting and review.
- Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in HR Information Systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
